Kaye Supports Loudoun School Discipline Reform

INTRODUCING LOUDOUN SCHOOL DISCIPLINE REFORM

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Virginia  September 21, 2011: Loudoun residents Teresa Cambetes and Eileen Murdock recently formed Loudoun School Discipline Reform (LSDR).  The mission of LSDR is to transform Loudoun County Public Schools' (LCPS) current discipline practice from a highly punitive and draconian approach to a more balanced, restorative model which focuses on correcting misbehavior and improving school safety rather than on denying students opportunities for education.

A results-driven community advocacy group, LSDR wishes to work collaboratively with LCPS and the community to bring forth positive school discipline reform. LCPS needs to employ discipline practices appropriate to student infractions, to consider the child's individual needs, to be sensitive to developmental stages, and to use discipline only when absolutely necessary.

LSDR is a results-driven initiative and advocacy group committed to positive school discipline reform.
